Sometimes it's hard to figure why all these duplicate sources keep getting uploaded....

Anyway - the 3/17/68 Download Series - a good one - more fine '68 madness. Hard to turn down a show with a Cryptical>New Potato>China Cat>Eleven>Caution>fedback!

4/17/69 - the date alone tells you it's worth hearing - yes, another excellent April '69 show! It has one of the rare It's A Sins inside St Stephen. There is a sad moment though, when the power is cut on stage for curfew, so we are deprived of what would have been a great Caution....

1/18/70 - I found this one to be a bust, not one of the better Jan '70 shows. A better recommendation would be 2/4/70, the Family Dog show, for its great fillers from later in the year.
It's a shame the Download Series has stopped; for a while it seemed like all sorts of uncirculated shows might come out that way.

Forum: GratefulDead Subject: the download series...

I am also a very big fan of the download series...I find myself listening to those shows as much as dick's picks...

I listened to 68-03-17 on my walk home from the train station and now have 69-04-17 on.

Actually, 68-03-17 is one of the few 68 shows that I have on my ipod so it gets played almost daily to some extent.

Regarding 70-01-18: I do like it, though I am a sucker for January of 70 shows. Not the best show of the month, but I am sure glad they released one of them. True, they released 70-02-04 from the family dog, but that is after tc leaving so there is a change in the sound from the previous month based on the line-up.

Not sure why I like the month so much. Possibly due to the set lists, or the last work with TC, or just the feeling of change in the music. You can tell that they are trying to take the 60's psychedelic wrap off and grow into a new direction; they were just not set on what direction. And yes, it was a good month for mason's children as well...

so now I am going to have to listen to Golden Hall, 70-01-10...there is just not enough dead listening time in a day...

anyway, since my library is pretty much full and my wallet is pretty much empty I haven't been to deadnet in a long time. Is there anything on the horizon being released by the wonderful folks at rhino? I am still waiting for a "Stay-at-Home" series from the first week of April 69 at the Avalon or something like that...
